Believe it or not, pool finishes can make all the difference for the look and style of your pool. These coatings are the perfect solution for not only keeping your pool clean and durable but also making sure it looks nice. We’ve covered in a previous blog the advantages of using swimming pool resurfacing, which include improving the pool’s visual appeal, helping keep it clean, and increasing the usability of the pool, but we haven’t yet covered the different types of swimming pool finishes. There are many different types of materials used for pool finishes, and here are three of them:
1. Plaster – This material is the oldest of all the different types, which is good and bad. It’s good because it clearly works, being around since the dawn of the inground pool era. Plaster helps give pools a smooth appearance and is usually one of the more popular choices. However, the bad part is that it’s simply less innovative than the newer options. It’s less expensive, but also more susceptible to cracks and stains.
2. Aggregate – Aggregate pool finishes are newer than plaster. They’re becoming more popular because they give pools a more luxurious surface that’s more durable and resistant to chemicals than plaster. The two different forms of aggregate, which are exposed and polished, are made from white or colored plaster and mixed with little pieces of granite, quartz, river stones, or glass beads.
3. Tile – Tile offers a wide variety of design possibilities and is considered to be one of the most durable pool finishes. Although they are the most expensive, tile finishes are known for their artistic look and the beauty they offer to pool designs. This material can take the longest to install, but they are typically the longest-lasting surface. Some of the different types of tile finishes include glass, stone, ceramic, and porcelain.
All of these different pool finishes are excellent choices for different reasons. At ecoFINISH®, we offer the aquaBRIGHT pool finish, which is an innovative way to protect your pool and make it look beautiful at the same time. To learn more about our pool finishes, contact us at 1-800-704-4167.
